Goa’s party reputation used to mean one thing: Baga’s beach shacks and Tito’s Lane blasting music till 2am — I covered that side in the main Goa guide. The newer story is a cluster of serious cocktail bars across the Vagator-Assagao belt, which has quietly become one of India’s most interesting places to drink. One of them is now internationally ranked: Boilermaker came in at 8th on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2026.
This isn’t a ranked countdown — it’s the lineup I’d actually walk through in one night.
The lineup
Slow Tide is where I’d start — a proper sundowner spot with a cocktail list that reads like an encyclopedia.
Stoned Pig, right next door, has a more intimate vibe and genuinely great Konkani food alongside the drinks — worth treating as dinner, not just a stop.
Aram Bar does exactly what its name promises: sit down, relax, dive-bar energy, no pretense.
Pablo’s feels less like a bar and more like hanging out at a friend’s place — unpretentious, easy to lose a few hours in.
Bloody Dangerous is worth one visit for the concept and the vibe alone. I wouldn’t oversell the drinks themselves — expensive, too much ice, watered down, and service that could use work. Go once, know what you’re getting.
In the same building, Room One and Drop Dead Sexy are worth a look too — smaller, more intimate, cozier than Bloody Dangerous, honorable mentions rather than full stops on the night.
Boilermaker is the one to build the night around. Exceptional food and service confident enough to just keep recommending and pouring without ever feeling like a pitch — you’ll order more simply because the people serving you are that good. Ranked 8th on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2026, which tracks with what it actually feels like to be there.
Stay where you drink: Passport Hotel
One more that deserves its own mention rather than a slot in the lineup: Passport Hotel, India’s only cocktail-forward hotel. If you’re serious about the drinks side of a Goa trip, this is worth staying at, not just visiting — some of the best cocktails on this list are poured here.
